Welcome to our site! Sam and Mike Coe have been involved in motor sports even before they were able to take their first steps. Their Father, Sam Coe Senior, was involved in many differing venues of racing. He was always involved in some way with either racing or wrenching (Most times both!) on cars, bikes and boats from the time he left the Army Air Corps after serving in the Korean war. He also served as a fighter pilot in WW11 as well.

Sam Coe Senior was most involved and successful in oval dirt track competition. His number of track and state championships came at the wheel of USAC Sprint and midget race cars. Sam senior was also an adept road racer as well. He held many track lap time records at popular road race courses racing Jaguar XK140's during the late 50’s. He also competitively raced modified Jaguar XKE's, MGB's and Austin Healy's during the early to mid 60’s.

Enter Sam and then Mike. Both youngsters were always going to their father’s shop and were always near the action. There seemed to always be an endless amount of service and maintenance to be done on the race cars.

From the time he was old enough to hold a wrench, Sam was involved with working on and developing engines for racing with his Dad! Most of his youth would be spent at his father’s side aiding him in any way possible on the cars. While most of Sam Jr’s school mates were involved with other hobbies and sports, Sam Jr. was paying close attention on how to modify engines to improve performance.

At the same time, Mikes interests were in bicycles and racing. During the boys teen years in the mid 70’s they both enjoyed an immense interest in motorcycles. While 2 strokes were being developed significantly at this time for Moto-Cross and road racing, Sam was intent on trying to compete with 4 strokes.

Seemingly always at a weight and power disadvantage when competing against EQUAL displacement 2 strokes, Sams 4 stroke experience and perserverence was about to have a huge impact when Honda introduced the ATC 90 during this period in the 70’s.

It was at this point and time that his knowledge started to shine when he began modifying the ATC’s engines for more performance. He developed it further and further, eventually building modified ATC 90 and 110 engines displacing OVER 200CC!

ATC racing was becoming very popular as well. With the combination of Sam’s engine building expertise and Mikes emerging racing skills, a formidable ATC race team evolved.

The rapid growth of ATC racing during the late 70’s thru the mid eighties is well documented. Mike and Sam were right in the mix of things when Honda introduced the ATC250R! Mike’s success at the races soon landed him a spot on the Factory Honda ATC Race Team.

Mike raced for Team Honda ATC until it’s near demise in 1985. During his time with Honda, Mike earned numerous race wins along with 3 National championships, a Baja Cross championship, and a SCORE Off Road World Championship title.
